桜餅で感じる春の訪れ！
3月3日は雛祭り、五節句の一つ上巳の節句です。旧暦の3月3日は桃の花が咲く季節であることから、桃の節句とも呼ばれます。桃の節句の起源は平安時代以前ともいわれており、春の訪れを祝い、無病息災を願う行事でもあったようです。昼食時に校長先生から全校生徒に桜餅のプレゼントがあり、生徒たちは大喜びで味わっていました。
On March 3rd, Japan celebrates Hina-matsuri, a festival celebrating girls' day. In the old Japanese calendar, March 3rd is when peach blossoms bloom, so Hina-matsuri is also called momo(peach)-no-sekku. This custom started before the Heian period (790s), and is an event that celebrates the beginning of spring and wishes good health. The students were very happy to get Sakura mochi from the principle.
